Re: lookup locations for many photos select , help
Reverse lookup on the geo panel just doesn't work for multiple photos - but you can use the batcher to do this for multiple photos.

That's not by design, right? Did anyone submit a bug report?snowman1 wrote:Reverse lookup on the geo panel just doesn't work for multiple photos

Hi Vlad,
No - I checked when I replied and turned out I hadn't raise a bug. I should have done but TBH I was just happy it had an easy workround.
At the time I was a lot more concerned with another behaviour of the batcher, and (I realise now) only mentioned the reverse lookup bug/feature in the context of this bug.

Select multiple photos and the right click on a selected photo and select Operations-GEO Reverse Lookup

New to this feature and wanting to understand: where do I put the gpx track file for the GEO look up to be successful? I have not done this before. The plan is to use iCloud and I am on MAC. What are the enxt steps pleae?
Re: lookup locations for many photos select , help
Mamilou, there are two separate things here: one is tagging an image (or images) with a location: i.e. a latitude and longtitude. This can be done by using a camera (such as the camera on an iphone) that has GPS built in and can do it automatically; or it can be done by using a GPS file. The GPS file (GPX being one format of such) contains a list of locations and with each, the exact time the device was at the location. PSU compares the time on your photos with the times in the file and then enters the appropriate location into the image data (and if the camera clock was out, a compensation can be applied). For this step the GPX file can be anywhere on your computer - PSU prompts you for the location - see the help files for the Geo panel for more info. (Obviously you have to get the file from your GPS device to the computer in whatever way you like).
The second step - if you want it - is for PSU to use the location now in the image data to lookup the names for that location - e.g. district name, country name. It uses a lookup service on the internet to do this. (NB: There are a number of these and they often have slightly different data - this is discussed in another thread on this forum if you are interested. V3 PSU uses one of these, so you have no choice which one). This step does not need a gpx file as the image must already have th elocation (lat & long).
Hope that helps.
