Rewriting the metadata from Catalog to file with ICS turned On will overwrite all pre-existing ICS metadata.

Dear Hert,
thanks for getting back. I will make a backup and dare to experiment a little, and report back.
I am so happy that I finally got it all working that I am a bit scared, though, to turn ICS writing back on...

@Frank: ICS is supposed to be a safety feature, not a scary feature! :)
