Hello Photo Supreme Wizards. Perhaps someone can help me with this problem. I'm kind of a newbie to this program.
I don't know if this is a flaw with the program or if I'm doing something wrong.
In the "FOLDER" view, I wish to search for new folders by right-clicking a top-level folder, choosing "Scan For Missing Folders" and having it find new folders anywhere in the hierarchy of sub-directories. It usually works, but I have found an instance where it doesn't work for me, which is a big problem for me because of how my folders are structured.
The program doesn't find new folders (with pictures) if the directory above that folder doesn't contain a picture.
It's best if I give an example that you can recreate on your own computer to see what I'm talking about.
#1 - Outside of Photo Supreme, create a folder structure off of your root directory as follows. C:/Testing/2015/(01-03-2015) and put a photo in the last folder.
#2 - Open up Photo Supreme in "FOLDER" view and import the C:/Testing folder. It finds the entire structure just fine and you can see it in the "FOLDER" view.
#3 - Now close Photo Supreme and create a new folder off of the 2015 folder called (01-12-2015) and put a photo in the (01-12-2015) folder.
#4 - Open Photo Supreme in "FOLDER" view, right-click the "Testing" folder and choose "Scan For Missing Folders." It doesn't find the latest (01-12-2015) folder.
However, oddly enough, if in step #1 I had included a picture into the 2015 folder, then Step #4 would work.
Is this supposed to work this way?
The reason I ask is because My structure is as follows....
C:/Pictures/Finished/(year)/(date)
I would like to be able to right-click the "Finished" folder and choose "Scan For Missing Folders" and have it find new (date) folders across all the years. However, since there are no actual photos in the "Finished" folder (only year directories,) it doesn't find new (date) folders under those years, even though the (date) folders have pictures in them.
I would prefer to right-click the "Finished" folder and "scan for new folders" instead of each individual (year) folder one at a time.
If this doesn't make sense, try steps #1-#4 above to see what I mean. Any help would be appreciated.
Bob
"Scan for Missing Folders" Can't find new folders
Re: Can't find new folders
Maybe you can use Right click->Verify Folder

Unfortunately, "Verify Folder" has the same result.IDimager wrote:Maybe you can use Right click->Verify Folder

I'll be sure to post this in the proper area. However, if "Scan For Missing Folders" or "Verify Folder" is not the normal way to use the program to search for missing folders, please let me know the more common way. Thanks
Bob

That is indeed the way to search for folders not in the catalog

You can of course also just import the Testing folder

BTW; "Scan for Missing folders does appear to work when used on the 2015 folder. Maybe use that as a workaround.

Re: "Scan for Missing Folders" Can't find new folders
Oh, I didn't know I could import a folder that's already been imported previously. Excellent!IDimager wrote:You can of course also just import the Testing folder
If I'm understanding correctly, I can simply import the top-folder (in this example "Texting") even though it was imported previously...... and it will simply import the missing folders and ignore the folders that were already imported previously and already residing in the catalog?
