Making a copy of an image

Post by rlong »

Hi,

I've recently shifted from Idimager to Photo Supreme, but am finding the lack of Help files frustrating. For example, I don't see any obvious way to simply create a copy of an image and save it as a version, or even simpler, as another image with a new name. I had to go to Finder (I'm on a Mac), make a copy, find it, drag it on top of the original, then go to "view by Version Placeholder" to deal with it. Is this really the only way to create a copy?

And, although I found a way to batch "resize" photos, I can't figure out how to set it to "save as" a new name, or to a new folder, even though I get a warning "no output folder set, you may overwrite your original." Again, resizing individual photos, for example to send via email, should be an easy thing to do.

I'd love to be able to stay with Photo Supreme, but it almost seems like the change from IDImager to PS made everything MORE complicated, not less. Especially given the lack of a manual or usable Help file.

Thanks

You can select the file, open it in an external application (an image editor, or whatever tool that results in a duplicate file), if needed save it as a different name, and then import that edited file and treat it as a version. If you're creating a duplicate up front to edit it later then consider if and how you could change your workflow.
And for your information; on Mac, an application isn't allowed to create a file without the user specifically giving permission to do so. Applications are very limited in what they can do due to the Sandbox rules that Apple sets. The positive side is that it brings a high level of security and that you won't have to bother about viruses as much as you would on Windows.

Watch this video for an explanation of using Batches.

Thanks! That was helpful. For some reason I hadn't seen the Share button...now I just need to set it up for Exchange and Gmail. Is there a way to have files sent to email auto-reduced in size?

Thanks

In the Share button, there is an entry to 'an age your profiles. Open that and create a new entry in the Email category. In the profile it's possible to specify the size to be used.
