Mike,

Are you saying that you've installed the SQServer version on your Windows 8 machine and it fails to startup?

Hi Mike,

I've just done another clean installation of the SQLServer 64 bits version, this time on a Windows 7 configuration and, again, no issues. After installation the application does start up and presents the DB-creation dialog.

I haven't got a faintest idea why it won't run on your Windows 8 machine. I do understand that there may be reasons why it wouldn't run on Windows Server, but the software is not intended to be ran on a server configuration so I don't consider that very high prio. However, it should run on any client that does or doesn't have SQLServer installed.

Anyway, I've updated all the installers (SQLServer and SQLite) to build 148 as your video did lead me to an error in the installation script.

What also stroke me as odd was that fact that your default installation folder was not pointing to the correct folder, which was an issue in a beta-release fro *before* the release. But you weren't part of the testing (as I didn't know you had interest in the SQLServer version). So I hope that there is not a link somewhere that still leads to downloading the beta version...then again, now with the 1.9.2.148 update you should be able to identify that you have the latest installer.

Hi Hert

32 Bit on win 7 and 64 Bit on Win 8 and Server 2003

Its almost like the program 'starts' to load and just quits - but with notification, anything.... I don't know how to track a process starting up in Task Manager - I just see IDImagerSU.exe flashing in the taskmanager when I click to run the program on it.

Look at http://mikeandmorag.co.za/idImager/SQL_ ... nager.html

Thanks

Thank for the video Mike. I clearly see that it won't run on your machine, and Steve the same.

Currently I'm completely clueless especially because the SQLServer versions work on all my machines (Windows Vista, 7, 8, Server 2003, WHS). Today I will try to install it on a completely newly installed computer. I'll have to revert that machine to it's standard setup first so that'll take a while. Hopefully such a "virgin" machine will show the same behavior.

[update: it is not required to install the SQLServer Client]

I think you might need to install the SQLServer client:

Does that help?

Makes sense, but surprisingly that's not it for this little black duck. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

The 2008 server already has SQLNCLI on it because I installed the full SQL Server 2012 package on it.

I installed the SQLNCLI on my Win8 64 bit machine, and PSU still doesn't open.

Thank you Steve. I was able to find out why this happened. This should be fixed in build .150 which is now available for download

I hope you or Mike can confirm this fixed now.

BTW; I've verified if the SQLServer Client was indeed needed and that wasn't the case. Hence I've removed my earlier post about this requirement to prevent misunderstandings.

Hi Hert,

I can confirm that the latest build opens on both my Win7 64 bit machine and the 2008 R2 server.

Onwards and upwards.....

Steve.

That's great Steve. This issue only happened when ran on a computer that doesn't have the SQLServer Express database software installed. That's why I didn't notice it until after running on the complete clean machine.

Since it doesn't require SQLNCLI I have perhaps a brighter glimmer of hope that you might be able to produce a MacOs version of this. Obviously a Windows machine would be needed for the database, but it would be fantastic to have a professional multi-user, multi-platform DAM I can suggest to clients.

What's your take ? Is this likely ?
