error: recovery mode

Post by weidmic » 09 Feb 18 15:22

Hert,
I get from time to time the following message when I start PSU (locally on my laptop):

Code: Select all

[Window Title]
IDimagerSU

[Content]
Connection to database failed (PostgreSQL: FATAL: das Datenbanksystem ist im Wiederherstellungsmodus
).

Press OK to ignore and risk data corruption.
Press Cancel to kill the program.

[OK] [Cancel]
das Datenbanksystem ist im Wiederherstellungsmodus - the database system is in recovery mode

Any idea where this comes from?

Cheers,
Michael

Is your server running locally too?
Maybe I'm wrong but I think your server has been crashed and now he find a core dump file. Where it is I think depends on which system the server is running (Linux or Windows)

RobiWan,
Yes, I am running this locally. And I get this message only from time to time.
Never had this on my workstation. And this actually gives me an idea!

Maybe it is related to the hibernation? I have to run a few tests tonight...

that can be possible. If you continue to hibernate the laptop, you should always stop the server service before doing so.

By the way - your signature is not correct "homepage *com.com" :D

Robert, thanks! I have changed my signature...

Stopping the server before going into hibernation mode? Are you serious?

Robert,
Yes you may...

Main reason is: not having to convert the database from PostgreSQL to SQlite.

I have a nice and fast PC with a big 4k screen, which I normally use.
Though, sometimes I want to work a little on my laptop, then I access the database living on my PC.

OK, but there are times, like on a vacation then I want to have my laptop with me. Before I go, I do a backup on the PC and a recover locally on my laptop. DONE! (at least, that's the plan)

Now I need to access the database from my laptop...
Right now I am setting everything up and do a lot of testing, so it works when I need it.
Just dont like too many surprises when I dont have time for it :)

Are you aware of a way to shut down the server automatically before the laptop goes into hibernation?

Cheers,
Michael

Michael,

this is why I have a different scenario. My PostgreSQL server is running as VM on my XenServer host. So if I'm on the road or have vacation I can connect to them through VPN. If this is not possible I use Single User Version. After I'm back home I'm importing the images with XMP files created by Single User into my Server edition.

For your sever shutdown you need to tasks created with task planer

and as action small poweshell script with "stop-service ServiceName" and "start-service ServiceName". So I don't use Server on Windows I can't tell you the servicename.
Hope this helps

Robert
