I've edited keywords and all that stuff with IdI.
Often I have a look at IPTC by using XnView or PhotoLine and discovered a problem with german characters as shown her

I reported that to Pierre (XnView) and he found the following
The IPTC field use utf8 encoding but the flag for utf8 is not here! So it's strange...
I've tried with exiftool, and encoding is bad too...
