There's no automatic rule by which the tops could be chosen, since I often shoot at multiple apertures and then pick which I like best based solely on subjective criteria.

A key that I could press while moving from photo to photo during review would be just lovely.

I've noticed in the States pane that I can view Stacked items, and Stack Top Items, but can I view "Stacked items whose stack has no top"? This would help me because I like to first select all stack in a file group, and then afterward go through and select tops for anything that I didn't choose a ...

Thank you, these are great suggestions. In my case the file names do not match, just the image content, but you've given me the ideas I need to pursue a custom filter.

Question about a filtering rule

Say I have two folders, A and B. I’d like to narrow my view to all duplicates in A that have a duplicate in B. So, if there are three photos, two in A and one in B, I’d see the two in A. But if there are none in B, I wouldn’t see any, even though duplicates exist in A. Is this possible?
