Hert,
Interesting day. Just realized you have a server version (good!) and that Lr5 has a DNG verification feature ... it can go through the catalog and verify the hash-tag data on all included DNG files (the only real reason to go the DNG route that appeals to me). This DNG verification makes the ...

Re: Why Versions without VDW etc.
For me, I agree with Mike's comment above that a lack of good versioning is a deal-breaker. It's that important for what I need THIS program for. Why learn another program if it won't do any more in DAM for my work-needs than Lightroom, which I need to use for my main work-in-progress software.

Re: Clarification on versions?
Still not sure ... if the file names are NOT identical to the left of the dot, does PhoSup "see" that they are "versions" of the same image when using the manual OR batch process?
As again, nearly all our originals and derivatives would be name thusly:
Woolsey_137.nef
Woolsey_137_layered.tif ...

Re: Clarification on versions?
Ahh ... if "identically named to the left of the dot ... " ... um ... that would rule out nearly ALL our derivative files, as the "base" name, such as "Wolfington_037" of the "original" file will be addended to in the derivatives, partly of course as LR want to ... but mainly as we need to so that ...

Tom,
For a business like mine, a portrait studio ... EVERY one of our clients has both "origianl" RAW files, and further ... at least one if not many 'worked' files derived FROM the originals that are of course in TIFF or PSD format, or ... in the case of enlarged files, probably a JPEG format. We ...

Clarification on versions?
Just wanting to be completely clear on the way PhSup treats an image in multiple formats ...
From reading through tons of messages, it would seem that PhSup ONLY "sees" an identically named combo of RAW/JEPG as "the same image". What in IdI-5 would have been called versions. I understand that ...

Re: file-manager
It must be difficulty to create a stable, easy to use, good (intuitive) looking, feature-rich DAM-Software. I don't want Lightroom. I hate monopoles.
Apparently so! I think it's both difficult to create the software AND to then attract enough user-base to make it profitable to continue with the ...

No Workspaces, no multiple monitors, no file management, versioning seriously reduced, labeling capability seriously reduced, a number of drag & drop actions turned into 4 or 5 manual step tasks ... yea, sadly ...

You are probably aware that just because IdI-5 can technically keep 'running' does not mean that, for very long at least, it will be usable for many of us. Camera and operating system upgrades blow out the usability of any unsupported program ... and sometimes, rather quickly.

Glad you liked the Workbook, silverblue. I rather unceremoniously removed the website this morning.

Well, one of the first things that has become clear ... Photo Supreme has no file management capability whatever.

Sadly lacking ...
Hert,
The new website is pretty, clean, modern ... and sadly and utterly lacking in any actual information. I'm rather stunned.
There's no info whatever (past a couple on-angle screen captures) as to what the "new" product looks like, how it works, no comparison of features with IDI5 let alone ...
