I see that the feature request to filter by Rejected rating has been submitted in Mantis. In the mean time, I suggest the following work-around for those wanting to filter on Rejected.
Use Filter by Macro Command.
Set the filter to:

Equals
-1
Click [OK] to test ...

The rhyme why these images are out of sync is because the import process was terminated before PSU was able to read the metadata to the catalog for these files. Once terminated, you’ll have to manually read metadata as explained above. Easiest way to recognize images that are not imported yet is ...
