Re: Issue with long catalog label display

With respect to scientific names, my major photographic subjects are birds, orchids, animals and insects. I know and use scientific names for orchids. I know and use common names for birds and animals and do not know scientific names for birds and animals. For insects, I know higher level common ...

Re: Issue with long catalog label display

Yes, I only currently include the major taxonomic divisions (those in Darwincore) for my labels. I do not use the super or sub divisions.

I considered whether to use the super and sub division labels. You definitely can put the super and sub division labels in the hierarchy and not have them store ...

Re: Issue with long catalog label display

When I started my taxonomic hierarchy, I also thought about the effort to create the hierarchy and looked for methods to automate the creation. I am really into wild orchids and insects and there are about 1700 species of Australian orchids plus over 5000 species of insects found in my local area. I ...

Re: Issue with long catalog label display

Roman, I started cataloging exactly as you initially. I also found its limitations and Darwin Core support came to PhotoSupreme at the right moment for me. Switching my cataloging was a major decision but worth it.

I have only recatalogued my 'important' photo categories and left the remainder in ...

Re: Issue with long catalog label display

I also catalogue my nature photos with PhotoSupreme, so far without issue using Darwin Core. My labels are not too long, at least so far. My method is I added a hierarchal structure as below which reflects the major taxonomic levels of organisms. These labels populate the Darwin core fields in my ...

Re: Long duration for upgrade v2024 to v2025

I just upgraded to v2025 from the latest v2024 and the database upgrade took just on 20 hours to complete. My database is sizable at 448,000 images so a long duration upgrade is not unexpected for me. That is running on windows i7 and SSD but the machine is getting old so not blinding fast. Everyone ...

Re: catalog people label thumbnails

vkfoto, now that you have a list of faces and names, courtesy of Herts script (thank you Hert for your excellent service) I don’t understand the second half of your question.

You want a list images for a person. This can easily be done by clicking on the appropriate people label on the categories ...

Re: Photo Supreme 2024 non-responding?

tweebee, PhotoSupreme does a lot of black magic importing all the metadata for the photos being imported. It takes a surprisingly long time to import 70K+ images, probably many many hours depending on your hardware.

What is happening is you are stopping PhotoSupreme before it is finished importing ...

Re: catalog people label thumbnails

I am not sure if I correctly understand what you are trying to do, but if you open the categories tab, display all people photos (click on the image count of the People label), change the thumbnail view to grid (click on the Thumbnail Style icon, the second icon from the left below the list of ...

Re: I Need Advice on Organizing Large Photo Collection with Photo Supreme

komyash, You are asking the right questions, but not really understanding the usage of a DAM.

The purpose of a DAM is to allow you to find and manage your digital assets, photos in your case. If you have a good DAM like PhotoSupreme, it doesn’t matter where your photos are located or the folder ...

Re: Resizing (downsizing) photos

barneagle,
You don’t want to downsize your original photos to save space. Photo Supreme has a better solution for you.

I manage my photos on a laptop with a 1TB SSD. I now have just over 4TB of photos being managed by Photo Supreme without any issue. I will describe my workflow for you and I ...

Re: working folder and storage folder

vkfoto, you have Photo Supreme, a Digital Asset Management system, but your workflow does not use the DAM to manage your assets while you are processing. I utilise a similar but different workflow and you may wish to consider something similar to make best use of your DAM.

First, I download my ...

Thumbnail Facial Recognition Count

I have been finding facial recognition very fast and very useful. I am going back to tag my people photos with facial areas rather than my previous method of just tagging the photo with the people tags. As I have lots of photos to add the facial areas, this will take a lot of time, but I just intend ...

Re: Photo Supreme V2024 is released

I installed V2024 trial yesterday with some trepidation due to the large amount of issues reported on this forum but I can report a very different experience.

The upgrade was extremely fast and painless. I haven't found any issues yet after 6 hours plus of testing, so for me, a painless upgrade. I ...

I have installed the trial version and used the Face Recognition. It appears that it runs in the CPU and does not require a GPU.
