Re: Why Photo Supreme isn't 'ready-for-prime-time' [OPINION]
@ Henry-In-Florida: Its been a while since showing up on these pages. For the most, I'm in agreement with fbungarz and snowman1 comments specifically those regarding PhotoSupreme's documentation. But then, for me at least, this has never really been an issue per se. In terms of memory management and ...

Re: Why Photo Supreme?
In a word, PS is one of the best keywording apps around.
For a longer story, use multiple apps to manage my image archive. Use Bridge to "ingest" my images, to rename images and apply basic metadata - metadata off templates and Bridge is one of the few apps that "preserves" the original image ...

Re: Behavior when applying data to full version set
I'm glad someone has brought this up. Its now become my biggest bug bear when using PSu. If Lightroom can manage this, can't see why PSu can't do the same. In LR, if you select a bunch of images, it easy to see which items of metadata are common to all images and which are not - as in who took the ...

Re: POLL: How Many Images Are You Cataloging in Photo Suprem
Have 112,000+ images in my digital archive.
Sometime back had some significant issues with my thumbnail database. This had "swollen" up to 25 GB. While trying to run the compacting routine continually got these database error messages. Trashed the thumbs DB and did a rebuild. Its now at a ...

As they say, "keywording is king" and this is where PS excels.

Hi,
Today tried to do a back up and ran into, "Verification of back up files failed. Please try again". Tried "again" three times and got the same message. Before attempting the back up procedures, compacted both the catalog and thumbs databases. Not sure what's going on here. Any ideas?
Cheers ...

Re: Sql server version of Photo Supreme
Been an interesting thread this has. Especially this last part concerning UTF8 characters presenting themselves in one way or the other. This "discovery" similar to the conversation covered in this thread http://forum.idimager.com/viewtopic.php?f=57&t=22938 .

Hi all,
Would like to hear from those who have transitioned from SQLite to the new database platform - specifically regarding performance.
Over the weekend did a "Sync all out-of-sync images" operation. Hoped it was going to be an "over-night" operation. As these things go, this operation took ...

Hmm, seems like we're running two different conversations here in this thread :?
@ Tom and back to Keywording Strategies
Apologies if I sounded patronising in my previous response but get your point now.
In mentioning Picasa, this is owned by Google and Google more or less "owns", well, at least ...

@ Tom
In referring to your first post in this thread, the whole amateur/professional thing doesn't really seem to count for much - we all seem to be using PSu for much the same thing, as in managing an archive of images. In PSu, its all about "housekeeping" and how one cares to use the tools in PSu ...

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the link. Just doing a "Sync all out-of-sync images now. 14 hours on and we are a 62.1%. Let's see what happens after this.
Cheers - Rogan

Jim and Tom, thanks once again for chiming in here.
@ Tom - your comments more or less coincide with Jim's comments. I've now implemented the suggestions put forward by both of you and will start with these shortly.

Hi Tom and Jim,
Appreciate both you guys chiming in on this one.
@ Tom - seems like we've both being trekking through similar territory here - as in working with something thinking that we know what we're doing only to find out that the results proved otherwise. And you are right as is Jim - its ...

Hi Jim,
I think it goes deeper that this. In working with and then moving on from IDimager to PSu and then a few other apps in between, many of these images have been done over a few times. Just recently have been working with the Keyword tab in Bridge to "clear out" the keywords from heaps of ...

Hi,
For want of a better term, looking for a way to "break apart" merged keywords.
At some point, probably with IDimager and while learning about these things, went and keyworded a whole heap of images. While doing so, may have enabled the write option with "Merge Catalog labels with keywords ...
