I have looked at pgAdmin 3 but connecting with SSH to the PostGreSQL is as it should you than have increased security on the box i would not let the PostGreSQL talk to the outside straight away.

I have no idea why that is and i dont have phppgadmin voor windows but if its being tunneled trough port 22 that should be fine because 22 has tunnel on.

Thanks, that worked... (almost)
I had to login as root - then I could su :) - as admin I got the message: su: must be suid to work properly
Then I created a DB and a User and now I am able to login to postgres via phpPgAdmin.

when I try to create a new user I get:
could not connect to database postgres: FATAL: role "admin" does not exist
to create the new user I used:
/usr/syno/pgsql/bin/createuser --pwprompt --superuser photosupreme
and I also tried:
/usr/syno/pgsql/bin/createuser -P photosiupreme
