Re: Color Management on Mac?

Sorry if it appears off topic, but it might be relevant to clarify this point first. I was not aware that any Mac display can be correctly hardware calibrated. I am also unaware of any photo agencies or art buyers using a Mac display.

I calibrate my iMac 27" Retina Display with an X-Rite ColorMonki every couple of weeks.
Are you sure that the iMac 27" Retina Display can actually be calibrated correctly? Have you spoken to X-Rite?

(I personally use EIZO monitors with the X-Rite i1 Display calibrator.)

We are on a Mac, using OS 10.7.5. Wondering if it might be a memory issue?
I might be the combination. I had this problem frequently when on 10.7.6
Do keep the tabs open in PSu down to a minimum. That might help.

Re: PSU and Capture One?

I don't get the point of a HiRES monitor, but that is your decision. If you are using a Mac, then you might be having a Font management problem which the OS does not do well. If you look in the FontBook.app you will see how many duplicate fonts are scattered around on your system. I had this problem...

Re: PSU and Capture One?

I personally don't see the point of HiDPI displays, but that is my opinion. Many of these display cannot be calibrated accurately and that is important for me as a photographer. I returned my Mac 'retina' display, as Apple got it all wrong. Primarily, the menu fonts became reduced to 4 point or som...

Re: Changing time zone in headline

Before somebody asks why one would want to put a date into the Headline field, after all, that is supposed to say "Man jumping off Golden Gate bridge" or similar. I use that field differently. In my system, file name, document title and headline start off being identical. That allows more chances fo...

Re: Changing time zone in headline

PS: When you say "I found it better to use 'shift the date' feature ... rather than using the change time zone feature" could you expand on why you found this better please? The reason I ask is that to adjust for camera clock drift up to now I have simply applied an offset in the geotagging dialogu...

Re: Changing time zone in headline

I also adopted your excellent suggestion in a previous thread of photographing a watch or clock showing local time. Thanks for the compliment, which naturally only works if you remember to do it, which this time I didn't :-( AND, if you do remember to do it, you will probably also have remembered t...

Re: Changing time zone in headline

Thanks, this put me on the right track and in a 4 stage process I thought that I had solved it. I then found that all files now had the same time. Back to stage one. Delete from PSu, reimport and try again. I will try importing with the original file name and then changing the timezone. Afterwards I...

Changing time zone in headline

Maybe I’m not thinking correctly or it’s just jet lag. I have a series of photos from a body whose time zone was not corrected. My filing scheme is set to rename the files using the date and time shot, which can involve a date change if set incorrectly. I’ve imported them into PSu and in the Details...

Re: Images previously imported still marked for import

PSU uses the archive flag of your files to determine the initial marked state. After copying a file to your system then PSU alters the archive flag of the original file on your memory card. WIll this work properly if files are first copied from the memory card to another drive and then imported int...

Re: to speed up the synchronisation

I believe that you must get accustomed to the slow speed and do it when you are not in a hurry. I don't work for PSu, but I realize that it is carrying out many tasks. Just don't interrupt it.

Re: Pre-sale question

Last update (if not counting small bugfixes) was year ago. As roadmap is not communicated software is now in low maintanance mode or new major version is coming. First one would be reason to leap out, later to hang on. PSu (as with many manufactures, look at Nikon, Canon, Sony) do not communicate t...
