Re: Out of sync: read or write metadata?
The missing keywords are defined with the "Create Keyword for this Label" option. However the file was read only, and the disparity went away when I tried again when the file was read-write. Weird?

Re: Out of sync: read or write metadata?
I reread the metadata from the file for one of the photos to see if there any changes. Now the "Keywords" listed in the "Details" panel do not match what the "Labels" panel shows:
Shouldn't these be the same?

Re: Out of sync: read or write metadata?
Sorry, I meant what aspects of each photo are out of sync, i.e. which entries do not match in the photo metadata and the database.

Re: Out of sync: read or write metadata?
Some information on what is out of sync would be helpful, if that were possible.

Out of sync: read or write metadata?
If a photo is marked as out of sync, how do I know whether to read the metadata from file or write the metadata to file? (Obviously, this question is for situations where I haven't just edited the file or database for this photo.)

Re: Keywords do not import
Ah, sorry, user error. I had some incorrect box-ticks in the import profile.

Re: Keywords do not import
Yes, those are the settings I use. But I've identified my problem: I had set the photo files as read only, since in version 4 the import process seemed to be deleting the keywords in the photo files (I reported this on Mantis, ID 0003441). Why this setting should affect the import I don't know, but ...

Keywords do not import
I am finding that importing photos prepared with PhotoSupreme into a new database leaves the labels (used to be categories) blank. Investigating further with exiftool shows that the "Subjects" entry (exiftool -Subject ...) and the "Keywords" entry (exiftool - Keywords ...) indeed are not empty, but ...

Re: Can I import key words at a top level?
I think you can drag the top level categories you want out from under e.g. "Controlled Vocabulary" and drop it at the top level. For example I had "Camera" as a top level in some other software and then various cameras I have used under that. After this procedure "Camera" is listed with the default ...

Along the same lines: can the file mask designate subfolders e.g. original/*.JPG to one version and adjusted/*.JPG to another?

Re: How to access the full database without using Photo Supr
Thanks. I would definitely only try to manipulate the database using a different program in the (distant, I hope) future if I no longer can use Photo Supreme, but it's comforting to know that it should be possible. Does anyone have recommendations for an OSX replacement for SQlite Expert?

Can I switch that on now and resynchronize?Mike Buckley wrote: Nothing should be lost if your Write setting was enabled with "Write catalog data to IDImager ICS Scheme" when you wrote catalog data to the image files.

Merging catalogs
Is there a way to merge two Photo Supreme catalogs? I have a large master catalog of photos from 20 years of picture taking, but find that this is cumbersome to work with on a daily basis for importing and tagging new photos. So I set up a catalog for the present year and use this for new photos. At ...

How to access the full database without using Photo Supreme?
One of the selling points of Photo Supreme is that it is open architecture, e.g. from the web site: "The IDimager database is an open architecture that can be exported to a file that can then be imported into another DAM.... After all, it is YOUR data, not the application’s data." or form the Forum ...

Re: Version 1 and speed
Thanks, this is a great case for comparison once v2 is available; maybe you can also share details about your configuration (CPU, internal memory, SSD or HDD, ...)
With respect to the timings, I have an IMAC with a 2.93 GHz core i7 (4 core) with 12GB memory and a regular hard drive, not SSD ...
