Thanks Hert, thought it worth checking to see if anyone else has this issue as it seems to only affect PSU. Will keep looking for Win 11 related ideas.

This has been happening for both the 2024 and 2023 version. Am running latest 2024.2.2.#### version.

Alt & Tab should list PSU, it does not, nor does the login screen appear (I have to minimise all other windows to see it).
to get back to PSU after an Alt/Tab I need to manually click on the task ...

I hope this proves to be useful for a possible reason for some unexplained crashes.

I couldn't work out why opening an imported folder with just 6 jpeg images kept crashing PSU.
So I created another folder with the same images and then drag and dropped one at a time into PSU - Bingo -found the ...

Update - finally got PDF thumbs to work.

I uninstalled Reader DC, installed a trial copy of Acrobat DC, uninstalled that and re-installed Reader DC and set the appropriate pref for thumbnails.
Possibly something in the registry wasn't working right

And come to think of it - these three could all be settable defaults.
- Apply Parents
- Unassign Parents With same parent (could/should carry a warning 'use with caution')

Metadata Settings
- Process Parent Mapping

I don't see defaults for any of the others being useful.

I have just discovered that if I use Import To Catalog the file is automatically being synced being written to (I noticed the file mod date and 'Software' exif data had been changed to "Photo Supreme Ver 6.0.4.###"

In the my current bunch of imports I am only adding one or two Labels on each import ...

FYI I just found a script by Hert in the Repository that changes all Labels to have Apply Parents to Yes.

I just tried it and it works fine.

I understand the idea re hierarchical keywords - however ASFAIK this is only refers to when 'label(s)' are synced/written to the file.
What if I don't want keywords written to the file? This is indeed a choice in "Store metadata to the database only".

At the moment there seems no way to choose the default settings for new labels in particular regards to:
- Also assign its parents - default Yes would be a good option to have
- Unassign parents with same label - tricky - Yes should be used with caution!

yes PDFs have and always were selected in file handling (like others it worked in IDI but not in PSU, my old IDI previews are there)

I found a few old threads back in 2015, but no solutions - it seems this should just work.

I have Adobe Reader as the default program for PDFs, display thumbnails in Win Explorer ticked in the Reader prefs.

Drag & drop folders/ files is very handy however there seems no way to import this way with an import profile.
As soon as I 'drop' import starts without any dialog.

Is there any plan to introduce a dialog in preferences e.g. choices of ask Yes/No , if Yes use default, none, choose?
